Seattle residents have a fondness for raising chickens and Seattle is the fifth-best city in the country for urban chicken coops, according to a new survey.
Seattle-based online real estate companyRedfin Corp. said Portland is the nation’s leading city and has the most chicken coops and most lenient urban farming laws. It’s followed by Ventura, Calif., San Diego, Sacramento and Seattle.
Seattle residents can keep up to eight chickens on their property.
"You’d be surprised by how many homes for sale have coops. Sometimes they’re the front-and-center focal point of a yard, and sometimes they’re unobtrusive, covered by trees and bushes," said Bree Al-Rashid, a Redfin real estate agent in Seattle, in a statement.
