Seattle home value gains up above national average

Seattle home values rose 0.4 percent in February and rose 8.1 percent in the past year, well above the national averages.
According to Seattle online real estate company Zillow Inc. (NASDAQ: Z), the national home value increase average in February was 0.1 percent and for the past year, was 5.8 percent.
Phoenix reported the largest yearly gain, percentage-wise, at 22.9 percent, followed by San Francisco, at 18.6 percent.
“We expect that rising home values will continue to help cure many of the ills still facing the housing market, including high levels of negative equity,” said Zillow Chief Economist Stan Humphries, in a statement.
