Washington state 9th highest in mortgage payments ranking

Washington is No. 9 in the United States when it comes to the highest average monthly mortgage payments, at $1,131.93 per month, according to a ranking released Tuesday by online lending exchange LendingTree.
Washington, D.C., ranked No. 1 on the list, with average payments averaging over $1,600 per month, followed by Hawaii, California and Virginia. Nebraska ranked lowest, with monthly payments of just $711.90, followed by Arkansas, Iowa, Oklahoma and Missouri.
In Washington state, the average monthly mortgage payment represents 24 percent of average monthly income, according to LendingTree.
