Seattle apartment rents expected to rise in 2012 – Puget Sound Business Journal

Apartment dwellers in the Seattle area have seen their rents rise 4.5 percent over the past year and rents will rise 6 percent next year, according to a new report.

The Seattle P-I.com reports that apartment vacancies actually rose in the last quarter, surprising industry observers, but rents will rise next year. And in 2013, 8,900 new apartment units are expected to open thanks to a flurry of apartment construction activity in the Seattle area, according to a new forecast by Dupre + Scott Advisors.
